It’s AFC Champions playoff weekend

Hello friends,

For those of you who don’t already know this, I grew up on Cape Cod (We simply say “The Cape.”) So obviously I am looking forward to tomorrow’s Patriots vs. Steelers game.  Hoping my Pats win and move on to the Super Bowl,  Well, because I am so excited, I decided to offer 50% off my entire site for one day only.  Tomorrow is that day! Use code PATS50.

So, now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, I want to tell you about all the fabulous new items that have arrived this month.  A few posts back, I talked about the “feel” of accessories this year being about the Industrial look.  I’ve brought in some incredibly popular pieces.  In fact, it’s harder than I expected to keep them in stock.  I’ve show a few of them below.

From the Shackle bracelets and rings, to the silver bullet necklace, this is the look for spring 2017.  Of course,  growing up the consummate Prep from The Cape, I still hold true to my image of what it means to dress according to my upbringing.  That means Sperrys without socks regardless of the temperature, matching my jewelry, watch band and belt to my outfit.  Rarely mixing two metal colors and staying away from clothing styles that are short-living trends.  My style is classic and timeless. Think Lilly Pulitzer, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren (Green or Black label only), Talbots, J Crew, and Vineyard Vines.  Although VV didn’t start selling women’s clothes until I was an adult.  We also had a brand called Papagallo which I don’t think is around anymore.  They made the preppiest rain coats ever!  If I am missing any brands, please let me know. It was the 80’s, the birth of the term “Preppy.” Before that, some called us “Townies.”  I’m not sure if you’ve ever heard that term.  We also wore Nikes and Addidas sneakers.  But for tennis it was only Tretorns. Everything was monogrammed.  I mean everything.  The cuff or collar of our Oxford shirts, necks of our turtlenecks and on the center of our pullover sweaters.  Oh and one popular item I hope NEVER comes back in style is the CB jacket.  Google it, lol.  Okay, I just got way off topic.  Sorry…

So, with that in mind, you’ll still find fun preppy style jewelry mixed in with “of the moment” trends because I can’t sell only what I like.  I have to think of my customers.  I’m so proud to say you range from high school age to retirees.  How fun is that?

Oh, and lest I forget… Have you heard about my Kiwi Cash program?  Become an affiliate and earn 10% of every sale generated by your personal link to my site.  One of my affiliates earned $45 so far this month.  Of course she spent it right away.  Wouldn’t you?

So cheers to the New England Patriots – #DoYourJob #PatriotsNation and I can’t forget my boys in black and gold, The Boston Bruins.  NHL Center Ice package is life!

Don’t forget to follow Kiwi & Ellie on Instagram.  Always something fun happening on my feed.

New Brands I love

Happy Saturday night!  As I sit here watching the Patriots v. Texans game, it occurred to me that I haven’t shared some of my new found favorite brands.

Of course these brands are not in direct competition with my business.  Two of them are social awareness and philanthropic businesses.  These are ones I really like to promote.

First, I found the most amazing socks ever!  Yes, there is such a thing as getting excited about socks. Especially when they are Bombas socks.  These are literally the most comfortable socks I own.  You know that annoying seam across the top of your toes that gets twisted and annoys you until you re-position it.  These socks don’t have that seam.  Plus they have this way of hugging your arch that just make my feet happy. For every pair of socks these two guys sell they donate a pair to the homeless shelters.  You’ve gotta watch the video about their story. You can shop Bombas by clicking here.  You an get 15% off your first order by signing up for their newsletter. #beebetter

The next company I have purchased from quite often in the past year is Half United.  Every purchase provides a meal for someone who would otherwise go hungry.  I have the bullet necklaces in silver and gold.  I wear them quite often and people do ask me about them.  I love sharing the story of this company as well.  I’ve also bought a few of their tees and they are wicked soft (sorry, I’m from Boston.) I’m sure there are discount codes out there but I’m not aware of any.  I have reached out to all of these companies asking if they have discount codes but to no avail.  All the same, I still recommend them.  These brands also make great gifts with purpose.

These bullet necklaces are lots of fun and make for a great conversation piece. You can shop Half United here.

I’d love to hear your opinion on these.  Next up is a company I discovered on Instagram.  It’s Cape Cod Diem.  Seriously I was so excited to see this line.  Reminds me of home.  I grew up in Falmouth, MA.  That’s on Cape Cod for those of you who don’t know.  Side note: Visiting the Cape at least once in your life should definitely be on your bucket list.

Anyway, I ordered a long sleeve shirt from Cape Cod Diem that has names of towns running down both sleeves.  When I saw Falmouth on there I knew I just had to buy the shirt.  I immediately went to their web site and snagged a shirt.  It is such soft cotton fabric and a gorgeous dark Navy.  I’m not sure about discount codes for this company either.  But if I find one, I will certainly share it on my personal Instagram feed.  They sent me a cute sticker too.  Since I have run out of space for stickers on my lap top I’ve started putting them around the frame of my monitors, lol.  I don’t care if people think it is silly at 52 to do that.  I am who I am. My daughter saw the sticker on my post and she wanted one.  I emailed the company and asked if they’d send her one.  Still waiting to hear back from them. This is the shirt I bought. Shop Cape Cod Diem here.

Finally, I saw this awesome tee shirt company on my social media feed. It’s called Mama Bird and Co.  Seriously some amazing word tees.  Full disclosure I have not bought one yet.  I plan to in the very near future.  I’ve seen several of my “Insta-buddies” wearing them.  They have an Etsy shop you can check them out here. My two favorite shirts are here.  I didn’t see a discount code for them on Social Media. Yes, I’m striking out in the discount department.  I’m sure they are out there somewhere.

So, that’s all for now.  Remember to follow me personally on Instagram @KiwiAndEllie and my personal accounts on Instagram and Twitter @MomaJuicy

Happy 2017

We made it, safe and sound.  Another year behind us.  I’ve officially been living in Texas for a year.  Still longing for home on Cape Cod.  It’s hard to believe but Kiwi & Ellie turns 10 this year!  March 1st will mark the ten-year anniversary of this site.  What started out as a Dubai importer of American brands has turned into a fun and exciting jewelry and accessory business here in the great country we call home.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the most genuine and kind ladies of Instagram this year.  From teenagers to retirees it’s been lots of fun doing giveaways and sponsoring style challenges.

I’m going to do my best to stay positive this year even though this just doesn’t feel like home. I officially start my new position in the Cyber Threat Intelligence group on Tuesday.  The last four months working in operations while the Director was on maternity leave has been an amazing learning experience.  Now the real fun and hard work begins.

I am also determined to make some new friends outside of work. Plus, I will continue to do what I love.  This.  This is what I love.  Scouring wholesalers for the next amazing piece of jewelry, continuing to do promotions and collaborations on Social Media and offering up my thoughts and insights into whatever is on my mind at the moment.

I need to become comfortable with my body even as I try to make healthier food choices and understand that with my age, my thyroid issues and medication that it is an uphill battle that I will take one step at a time.  No fat shaming.  Just me, and for me, and no one else.

So with that said let’s embrace a new day, a new year, a new chapter… Page one of 365. Your life is waiting for you.  Go out and live it.

P.S.  I will vow to take more photos of myself as I accept the way I look.
