New Brands I love

Happy Saturday night!  As I sit here watching the Patriots v. Texans game, it occurred to me that I haven’t shared some of my new found favorite brands.

Of course these brands are not in direct competition with my business.  Two of them are social awareness and philanthropic businesses.  These are ones I really like to promote.

First, I found the most amazing socks ever!  Yes, there is such a thing as getting excited about socks. Especially when they are Bombas socks.  These are literally the most comfortable socks I own.  You know that annoying seam across the top of your toes that gets twisted and annoys you until you re-position it.  These socks don’t have that seam.  Plus they have this way of hugging your arch that just make my feet happy. For every pair of socks these two guys sell they donate a pair to the homeless shelters.  You’ve gotta watch the video about their story. You can shop Bombas by clicking here.  You an get 15% off your first order by signing up for their newsletter. #beebetter

The next company I have purchased from quite often in the past year is Half United.  Every purchase provides a meal for someone who would otherwise go hungry.  I have the bullet necklaces in silver and gold.  I wear them quite often and people do ask me about them.  I love sharing the story of this company as well.  I’ve also bought a few of their tees and they are wicked soft (sorry, I’m from Boston.) I’m sure there are discount codes out there but I’m not aware of any.  I have reached out to all of these companies asking if they have discount codes but to no avail.  All the same, I still recommend them.  These brands also make great gifts with purpose.

These bullet necklaces are lots of fun and make for a great conversation piece. You can shop Half United here.

I’d love to hear your opinion on these.  Next up is a company I discovered on Instagram.  It’s Cape Cod Diem.  Seriously I was so excited to see this line.  Reminds me of home.  I grew up in Falmouth, MA.  That’s on Cape Cod for those of you who don’t know.  Side note: Visiting the Cape at least once in your life should definitely be on your bucket list.

Anyway, I ordered a long sleeve shirt from Cape Cod Diem that has names of towns running down both sleeves.  When I saw Falmouth on there I knew I just had to buy the shirt.  I immediately went to their web site and snagged a shirt.  It is such soft cotton fabric and a gorgeous dark Navy.  I’m not sure about discount codes for this company either.  But if I find one, I will certainly share it on my personal Instagram feed.  They sent me a cute sticker too.  Since I have run out of space for stickers on my lap top I’ve started putting them around the frame of my monitors, lol.  I don’t care if people think it is silly at 52 to do that.  I am who I am. My daughter saw the sticker on my post and she wanted one.  I emailed the company and asked if they’d send her one.  Still waiting to hear back from them. This is the shirt I bought. Shop Cape Cod Diem here.

Finally, I saw this awesome tee shirt company on my social media feed. It’s called Mama Bird and Co.  Seriously some amazing word tees.  Full disclosure I have not bought one yet.  I plan to in the very near future.  I’ve seen several of my “Insta-buddies” wearing them.  They have an Etsy shop you can check them out here. My two favorite shirts are here.  I didn’t see a discount code for them on Social Media. Yes, I’m striking out in the discount department.  I’m sure they are out there somewhere.

So, that’s all for now.  Remember to follow me personally on Instagram @KiwiAndEllie and my personal accounts on Instagram and Twitter @MomaJuicy

Lip Sugar is a Lip Saver

You’ve probably heard me rave about Lip Sugar, by Fresh Beauty, on social media.  Did you know the company lipsugar2started on Shark Tank?  How cool is that?  However, that is not why I buy it.  In fact, I only learned of it being featured on the show when it was mentioned in a recent episode.

So, regardless of where you live and how cold it may get, or not.  I think most people occasionally need some lip protection.  I certainly do.  What I love about this moisturizer, if you use the advanced therapy one, is that it also gives you a gentle exfoliation every time you use it.  Even though I am in Texas, I still have issues with chapped lips.  It is especially important to have smooth lips now that I’m wearing the Gerard cosmetics matte lipstick.  Unless your lips are smooth as silk, the lipstick will look horrible. I use the sugar scrub exfoliant every night before bed, followed by the lip serum.  Then in the morning, I apply the Lip Sugar balm before I start doing my makeup.  That gives it time to work before I apply my matte lipstick.

When I needed to order more I saw a great gift set on Sephora.  Yes, these are trial sizes but still I had to have them and they are great for travel as well. I have to say, though, that I also used the Advanced Therapy lip treatment that has the sugar exfoliant in it.  This is not included in the gift set and will set you back $26.  Totally worth it!

The kit contains:
– 0.10 oz/ 3 g Sugar Nourishing Lip Balm Advanced Therapy
– 0.28 oz/ 8 g Sugar Lip Polish
– 2 x 0.07 oz/ 2.2 g Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15 in Nude, Rosé
– 0.16 oz/ 5 mL Sugar Lip Serum Advanced Therapy

What it is formulated WITHOUT:lipsugar5
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

This is amazing stuff and the gift set is just $40.  Plus we all know Sephora ships FAST!  For convenience, I’ve included a link to it here.  I do not make any money off of this.  It is just that good.  Not that I wouldn’t mind getting some free.  It’ certainly not cheap!

Oh, and if you are interested, here is the lipstick I am raving about on Social Media.  I love gerardlipstick
the matte finish because it lasts longer.  You can always add gloss if you wish, but if you take care of your lips using the Lip Sugar line, then you’ll rock the matte lip look!

So, Hey Fresh Beauty and Gerard Cosmetics!! Feel free to send me some love…

Dainty Jewells

DaintyJewells3I am thrilled that Dainty Jewells sent me this “Elegant Tea Dress.”  I’m a plus size so I have the XXL.  My problem area is the stomach.  This was a bit roomy which is great because I hate anything tight on my waist.  The matching sash ties into a cute bow.  I paired it with my gorgeous black beaded chandelier earrings. I have so many other styles on my wish list.  I love how this company provides beautiful, modest, clothing for girls and women.

Here are a few other dresses I can’t wait to get my hands on. You can click on the images to visit the Dainty Jewells web site and see my favorites.  Here in the south these dresses are perfect for brunch, church, day weddings and afternoon tea.

What Every New Texan Gal Needs

So, since I arrived in this state, I’ve noticed there are certain things a southern belle needs. Start with a pair of cowboy boots, Miss Me Jeans in bootcut, a handgun and some western style jewelry.  I found this ring on Boots and Bourbon. Don’t you just love it? You’ll also need a good bottle of Bourbon for when friends drop by.  Be sure you are using one large ice cube so as not to water down the spirits.  I’ve seen these kind of ice cube trays everywhere. They do sell them on the Boots and Bourbon site also.  May I suggest Blanton’s bourbon. (Frank Underwood in House of Cards drank this.) It will set you back about $65.  What is your favorite?

Of course these bourbon glasses rock! No pun intended.

Presenting Gretchen Scott!

splitneckdress_seaoflove_blues0406_1I am so excited to be able to offer the Gretchen Scott line.  Her clothes are amazing, gorgeous, preppy, chic and fun!

I’ll be letting you all know on Social Media when it will premiere.  I am hoping for July 20th but may get a few items in before then.

Plus, I’ll have a special offer for my Instagram followers! Stay tuned!

The new fall line is amazing but since we are in Texas, I plan to carry the lighter styles all year.  Also, I will be making my jewelry selections based on her designs so you’ll be able to coordinate your accessories all in the same place! Below is a sneak preview of what’s to come.

_12878927This is no joking matter.  I am in love, love with the packaging of the new Christian Louboutin Lip Lacquer.  Seriously.  I checked out the Nordstrom web site and they sell it.  My favorite color is “Akenana.”  I’m not sure what the word means, but the color is so amazing.  Will you pay $90 for this tube of lacquer?

I mean just look at this boxed.  Don’t you want to die? This is seriously about as close as I’ll ever get to owning a pair of Louboutin shoes. Or, anything from the design house._12757028

Maei Artisan Jewelry from Sweden is here!

It’s an honor to be first.

FrontCategorySMI’m so thankful to Marieke Slangen, the Dutch designer from the Netherlands, for allowing me to be the first U.S. retailer to offer her stunning line of hand painted bead jewelry.  She finds her inspiration from folk art of countries around the world.  She’s a true artist.  Her designs are intricate and unique.

Each bead is painted by her small group of seasoned artists.  Making each piece is unique in that they are no mass-produced.  There is an appreciation in society today for true craftsmanship.  That is evident in her designs.  I hope you will be fortunate enough to own one of her works.

As new designs are created, we will offer them to our American customers. ~Ann

Vera Marina Paisely

I’m so in love with the Vera Paisley pattern.  Yes, I have plenty of options when it comes to bags.  But, nothing beats my Vera Bradley collection.  It started so many years ago that if I told you, you’d know my age, lol.

Marina Paisley

I was walking by Hallmark the other day and popped in to see “what’s new.”  The one near my house has a Vera section that continues to grow.  I checked out the Marina Paisley pattern and have decided it is definitely my new favorite. I wanted to pick up the “Two-Way” tote, but they only had two and not my new pattern.  Think I’ll pop over to the Vera store at International Mall today and see if they have it in stock.  Wouldn’t that be sweet??

What’s in my bathroom?

Have you experienced Mainely Coles?

One of my favorite all natural skincare lines is from Maine.  Mainely Coles is my “go to” for all my body lotions and creams.  My favorite is the “Sister’s Body Butter” for after showering.  Actually, it’s so rich and creamy that I put it on slightly damp skin.  It absorbs so well.  I have really dry skin and this is amazing.  The lavender scent is heavenly.

Throughout the day I keep my bottle of Kelsey’s Lavender lotion next to me.  You know those tiny bumps you get on your skin (usually on the upper arm area, technically called  Keratosis Pilaris)?  Seriously, after using this for about two weeks, they were gone.  I’m going on two years of re-ordering these products and loving them.

I’ve also been using the Cucumber toner for a while now.  I found some other uses for it besides removing makeup residue after washing my face.  Living in Florida means many of us sweat… a lot.  I use the toner as a quick freshening up product during the day.  I can even swipe it with a cotton pad on my under arms and then reapply my deodorant.  (I’m being straight forward with you.)  I also keep a travel spray bottle of it in my purse to spritz my face throughout the day.  Shared my thoughts with Heidi, the mastermind behind the line.  She loves my ideas!

Anyway, I just want to thank Heidi for all her hard work in creating some amazing lines.  My daughter is hooked on her, soon to be released, face wash.  She won’t use anything else!  I can’t wait to see the new packaging when it’s on the market this fall! ~ Ann

P.S.  The website is: (No, I don’t get anything for referring her.  I simply love her products!!)

The land of Milk & Honey

I’ll bet you’re expecting some completely different post than what I’m about to tell you.  I was surfing the web and found the greatest site.  A place where you can actually design your own shoes.  I mean, how great is that?  You have the perfect dress for an upcoming event.  Yet buying shoes to match is driving you crazy.  The land of Milk & Honey is your answer.  Definite worth checking out!!! ~ Ann
